The film stars Frances McDormand, Christian Bale, Kate Beckinsale, Natascha McElhone, and Alessandro Nivola. The movie is about the divide that exists between science and faith, belief and skepticism, and how humanity can reconcile these opposing ideas when contemplating the meaning of life and our place in the universe.
There is little about "The Canyon" that is worth criticizing. The car falls behind a large rock. The DVD shows an alternate ending where Thelma and Louise drive off the cliff and the car goes sailing into the air, just like in the regular ending.
Plot. The ending was completely unexpected and shocking. Laurel Canyon is a 2002 American drama film written and directed by Lisa Cholodenko. I just watched this movie also and I did love it, but the ending was supposed to be a nod to 70s movies like Five Easy Pieces and The Graduate where the ending is not revealed and you have to figure out what happens to the characters from what the story gave you according to the commentary by the writer. That would have deprived the world of Rambo: First Blood Part II, … “Echo in the Canyon” is a perfect title in how it represents the ways in which the inspiration shared by these bands continues to reverberate through the art form, the industry and cultures not limited to America. I usually like endings that make you think, but this one just leaves a little to much. When the movie was released on DVD in 2004, it included an alternative ending where John Rambo commits suicide.
There is a reason why there are no 1-star ratings for this movie (at least as of the time that I am writing this). I had to keep reminding myself that this was only a movie!
